The Unintended Consequences of Rejecting God

The Unintended Consequences of Rejecting God

Ignoring God: The Worst Decision You Will Ever Make

Inasmuch as we know that Hell is the ultimate consequence of rejecting God, we must also understand that in this present life there are many unforeseen and unintended consequences we will face for turning away from God. When a society ignores God and cast Him aside to do as they please, the benefits of righteous living and godly behavior are replaced by the decadent fruit of rebellion. Chasing the decadent fruit of darkness leads us further and further away from the illuminating presence of God and His word. Our world grows darker as godly knowledge and wisdom are ridiculed by the blind guides leading the lost astray. As unforeseen and unintended consequences emerge from the darkness, confusion seizes control as society gropes in the darkness.

The world is broken and it seems no one knows how to fix it. Our brazen rejection of God is leading us down the path of destruction (Proverbs 14:12). We glorify sin as though it were a virtue. Confused young people don’t understand their sexuality or what bathroom to use. Young women don’t understand they need a husband and their baby needs a father in the home. Many males (it is wrong to call the men) make babies and then abandon their responsibility to the mother and child (1 Timothy 5:8). Doctors are murdering unborn babies and telling the mothers it’s not a real person or baby. Roughly 3,000 babies are murdered every day through legal abortions and their body parts sold for profit in the United States. Abortion is legal in the 9th month of pregnancy for any or no reason (Exodus 20:13). The LGBT movement is now a respectable abomination (Leviticus 18:22). Women are taking testosterone to grow hair, deepen their voice and shrink their breasts while men are chopping off their gentiles and taking estrogen to enlarge their breasts. Our military tax dollars are being spent on elective sex-reassignment surgeries (Romans 1:24). If you are sad or depressed, big pharma and the doctors have a pill for you. Feeling anxious are overly excited, there is a pill for that too. Tired of all life’s hustles and hassles (Isaiah 40:29), we have street drugs and the panacea of all panaceas, weed. If none of that helps, we grab a six-pack at the corner store and drown our sorrows. If we feel like the world is against us and we are unloved or unwanted, remember this (Romans 5:8). Don’t take revenge and shoot up the school, theater, or concert (Exodus 20:13). These are some of the unintended consequences we face for rejecting the Lordship of Jesus Christ in our lives.

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God. (John 3:19-21)

The social climate is growing darker by the day. Our souls are sick with sin. Unless we turn to God in true repentance we will completely destroy our nation and its citizens. Religion won’t help, we need a supernatural authentic revival that sweeps across our land into every home and heart. We need the TV preachers to stop begging for money and start calling for repentance and baptism (Acts 2:38). Let’s cut the psycho babel and preach the life-changing word of God. We need anointed spiritual leaders to lift up their voices and preach all the gospel, not just the parts that feel good. We need every born-again Christian to step up and go public with their life-changing testimony of how Christ transformed their lives (1 Peter 3:15). We need to fall on our faces, call out to the Lord and turn from our wicked ways.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Please understand this, just one moment in God’s presence can do more to fix your goofed-up messed-up life than all the drugs, alcohol, self-help, and counseling in the world. In God’s presence, you will receive forgiveness, a new heart, and healing for your mind. You will become a new creation, a new person in Christ. You will receive peace for your troubled soul and godly wisdom and knowledge that really works. In His presence, you will find “beauty for ashes, joy for heavy hearts, a spirit of praise for a spirit of despair. Jesus spoke of these things in Luke 4:18 -19:

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. (Isaiah 61:1-3)

What I am sharing here is not some religious theory; it is my experience of 45 years and the experience of hundreds of millions of born-again Christians, and it all began the day I opened the door of my heart to let Christ into my polluted sin-sick heart. To my amazement, Jesus supernaturally entered my heart and life and illuminated my mind so that I could see and understand His love for me. I had never experienced such love in my life. This love flows from the source of all love. I grew confident that His love would never fail me and that He understood me better than I understood myself. I discovered who I really was through His undeserving love. Almost instantly, I knew that I would never turn away from His amazing love. I am so glad I opened the door and let God into my life.

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. (Revelation 3:20)

Is Jesus knocking on your door?

If so, open the door and let Him transform your life. You can and will be transformed by the power of God. You will never be the same again and you will never want to be the same again.

How to Turn to God

Perhaps at this very moment, you have realized that you need the Lord in your life. Maybe you drifted away or need to be been born again? If so, you can stop right now and begin talking to God. Ask Him to forgive you for being a sinner and the life you have been living outside of His love. Surrender your life to Him, unconditionally. Call Him Lord and make Him Lord of every thought, attitude, and action. You can say, Lord Jesus, forgive me for all my sins and come into my heart and take full control of my life. I am your child from this day forward. Change my heart and mind to be Christ-like in every way. I confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior forever.

If you prayed that prayer we would love to hear back from you.
