One Mediator Between God and Man

One Mediator Between God and Man

Jesus is the Only Way to Father and Eternal Life

Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6).

The Bible says that Jesus Christ is exclusively the only way to the Father. He is the only truth and the only hope we humans have of being forgiven and receiving eternal life. In the Scriptures, we find no other way to God the Creator except through Christ Jesus. This is a huge and bold statement that is supported by a solid biblical and historical foundation in that Jesus is the one and only Son of God. He is the alpha and omega, the beginning of all things and the end of all things. He is the one and only mediator between you and God the Father. The 12 Apostles, Muhammad, Buda, Confucius, Mother Teresa, the Pope, Jesus’ Mother (Mary), Calvin, Luther, aliens from another galaxy, or any other person or deity can forgive your sins and give you eternal life in the presence of God the Creator. Jesus is the only one that took upon himself the full punishment for all our sins and defeated death by rising from the dead. You cannot receive salvation through any other name but Jesus… (Acts 4:12).

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. (Rev. 22:13)

For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus… (1 Timothy 2:5)

All other religions, faiths, beliefs, philosophies, concepts, or ideas whether past, present, or future are therefore nullified and eliminated by Jesus himself from ever leading people to God, forgiveness, and eternal life. Therefore, to seek, embrace or trust in some other way to approach God the Creator is to reject Christ and indirectly make him out to be a liar.

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. (1 John 5:11)

When Jesus appeared on earth roughly 2,000 years ago people were trying to identify who Jesus really was. Many were astonished by his miraculous powers of healing which led some people to speculate that he was perhaps the reincarnation of some deceased holy man.

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” 14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. (Mat. 16:13-17)

We ask, was Jesus lying by claiming to be the “Son of the living God” as Peter declared him to be? Was He lying by claiming He is the “only way” to the Father? If so, we are fools to place our faith in Jesus to save us from our sins. But if Jesus is telling the truth, then we are fools for not falling on our knees, repenting with all our hearts, and turning to Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

The question Jesus asked, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” is the question that we must settle in our minds and hearts—who is Jesus?

Peter’s declaration, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God,” was not one of scholarly study. Peter was not a Pharisee, scribe, or expert in Judaism. Neither was he a highly learned man; he was a fisherman. Nevertheless, Peter got it right because God revealed to Peter in his heart and mind that Jesus was indeed God’s one and only Son. Peter had a revelation that he was standing in the presence of Deity and it was all coming into focus.

The apostle Thomas (doubting Thomas) had a similar revelation when Jesus appeared to him after the resurrection. It is likely that Thomas believed Jesus was a very special prophet or spiritual leader, perhaps a king like King David who was sent to deliver the Jews from the Roman occupation. But whoever Jesus was, was of no import now—He is dead and buried. Thomas could not wrap his mind around Jesus’ true identity until  Jesus returns to life and appears alive and well in his post-crucifixion body. Here in the midst of the apostles, Jesus supernaturally appears and tells Thomas:

Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe. 28Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:27-28)

The personal revelation of Jesus’ true identity results when we mix faith with God’s truth. Suddenly, inside our spirit, we connect with the spiritual realm, and our hearts and minds are illuminated by God’s presence. Our faith is not blind as some think. Our spiritual eyes and ears are energized and come alive when we believe what God’s word says. While we live by faith and not by natural sight, we can still possess an inner witness in our spirit that Jesus is the Son of God and the only Savior of mankind. Such an experience is undeniably life-changing. The direct effects of this revelation make it seem impossible to move in any other direction but toward the Savior. We become focused and single-minded while continually being drawn nearer and closer to the Lord.

I first experienced this supernatural revelation that Jesus was truly the Son of God and the only Savior of the world many decades ago. Prior to this revelation, all religions, faiths, and beliefs were basically meaningless to me including my Catholic upbringing. My mindset was whatever floats your boat, live and let live, that’s cool. After all, one religion was as good as the next, right? Deep on the inside, I had no interest in any religion or God whatsoever. All religious participation seemed like activities for children and old women from a past era when people were more ignorant. Church, in my mind, was for the silly, simple-minded, weak, fear-filled, and easily deceived folks; just a bunch of religious freaks of which I considered myself far above. Yep, too smart for that religious mumbo-jumbo. However, when friends you hang with and people you know who know better than to get caught up in that weird religious stuff get sucked in, you wonder, have they flipped out and lost their minds?

The reality of turning to Jesus and experiencing the revelation knowledge of God’s Holy Spirit confirming that Jesus is the Son of God and Savior of all the world is not similar or comparable to any other religious experience. When it happens, this revelation of who Christ truly is becomes nearly irresistible, undeniable, and virtually inescapable. Life, as you supposed life to be, will never be the same again—never. You have met the Savior and He is the Lord Jesus Christ. His presence envelops your being with a realness that is unlike any natural experience you have ever known or ever will know in this life. His supernatural transforming power produces a new life birthed by God’s supernatural power. We are born-again of the Spirit of the living God! There is no denying it; we are made alive in Christ, and without a doubt, we know that Jesus is truly the Savior of the world.

The initial experience of Christ coming to live inside us and the miraculous transformation of the new birth transcends all human intellect. For the first time in our lives, we are spiritually minded in every aspect of our lives. We are “new creations,” (2 Cor. 5:17). We abandon the life we once lived separately from God as our interests, desires, and affections become Christ-centered. There is a living Savior in our hearts and minds, Christ the Lord. We absolutely know that we belong to the Creator of the world and that he has rescued us from our sins. There is a supernatural witness by His Spirit that we are truly His child.

The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. (Romans 8:16)

God the Father sent His one and only Son to rescue us from our sins. According to the Bible, Jesus says He is the only way to the Father. Salvation is not offered to mankind through any other religion, belief system, philosophy, process, or savior. The creator of all things designated and sent His Son to be the one and only Savior of the world. There is absolutely no other path to the Father. There are no alternatives to God’s plan to save us and reconcile mankind to Himself. Please understand what God is saying to the world through His Son. There is no salvation or gift of eternal life outside of Jesus.

For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus… (1 Timothy 2:5)

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

If we ignore or reject God’s plan to save us we will be eternally lost.

Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. (1 John 5:12)

Sometimes non-Christians become highly offended when Christians quote Jesus’ proclamation that He is the only way to the Father. They can become very defensive and conversationally combative. There are billions of religiously devout people who are never going to turn to the Son of God and the only Savior of all mankind. They will die in their sins never receiving God’s saving grace. These lost souls are spiritually deaf, blind, and bound by the power of religious deception.

So, my friend, if you do not belong to Christ I would encourage you today to call upon the mighty name of Jesus, for there is power, miraculous wonder-working power in the name of Jesus! Forgiveness, healing, deliverance, restoration, and life everlasting is available to all who call on His name.

How to Turn to God

Perhaps at this very moment, you have realized that you need the Lord in your life. Maybe you drifted away or need to be been born again? If so, you can stop right now and begin talking to God. Ask Him to forgive you for being a sinner and for the life you have been living outside of His love. Surrender your life to Him, unconditionally. Call Him Lord and make Him Lord of every thought, attitude, and action. You can say, Lord Jesus, forgive me for all my sins and come into my heart and take full control of my life. I am your child from this day forward. Change my heart and mind to be Christ-like in every way. I confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior forever.

One Response to One Mediator Between God and Man

  1. Jesse Freeman says:

Amen brother! Jesus is the only way! Why do Catholics believe that Gods word is not enough to get in heaven and getting into heaven also requires sacred tradition and the Magisterium?
