From Here To Eternity
Is There Life After Death?

The Bible teaches that immortality is promised to every born-again follower of Christ. The Apostle John says, Jn. 3:16, “…that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” The Apostle Paul tells us the same thing in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The Apostle John reminds us in 1 Jn. 5:11 that “God has given us eternal life in his Son.” John wanted every believer to know,” 1Jn. 5:13, “…that you may know you have eternal life.” Eternal life is God’s promise: 1st John 2:25: “And this is what he promised us—eternal life.”
The Apostle Paul was convinced that once he departed from this world, he would be in God’s presence. “We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8).
Salvation and eternal life are God’s gifts, of which we are unworthy, do not deserve, and can never earn. The only thing we have earned is a fiery ticket to hell, where all those who rejected Christ will be punished for their wickedness and sinful lives. I do realize that most of us enjoy flattering ourselves into believing that we are not really wicked or immoral, but God says we are. Therefore, Jesus offered us a way of escaping sin’s penalty, “death,” and receiving forgiveness and the gift of eternal life.
“I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me will live, even though he dies. 26And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)
If Jesus is not who he claimed to be and lied to us regarding eternal life, Christianity and our Faith are useless. However, in a blog I wrote titled, Do The Dead Live Again, I documented 12 occasions Jesus was seen alive after His crucifixion, including over 500 people at that time. It was an undeniable fact that Jesus died and rose from the dead. Jesus demonstrated he had power over death and the grave by reappearing as the resurrected Christ. And we must not forget John chapter 11 when Jesus summoned Lazarus back to life from the tomb after being dead for 4 days. These eyewitness accounts confirmed to everyone that Jesus was telling the truth and that he was the one and only son of God.
And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. (1st John 5:11-12)
When the Apostle Peter preached his very first sermon on the day of Pentecost, he made it explicitly clear that salvation and eternal life were only through Jesus. Please do not be deceived and suppose for one moment that salvation and eternal life are possible without Jesus as your lord and savior. The Bible does not offer an alternative way. The Scriptures teach there is only one way to the Father, and that is through Jesus Christ.
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)
The Bible teaches that everyone who puts their faith in Jesus Christ and wholeheartedly believes that Jesus is the Son of God shall have their sins forgiven and receive eternal life. They will be born again by the power of the Holy Spirit and begin a new life in Christ.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:89)
I love the words of this old Hymn: “Such love, such wondrous love. Such love, such wondrous love. That God should love a sinner such as I, how wonderful is love like this.”
Now is the time to give your life to Jesus.

How to Turn to God
Perhaps at this very moment, you have realized that you need the Lord in your life. Maybe you drifted away or need to be born again? If so, you can stop right now and begin talking to God. Ask Him to forgive you for being a sinner and the life you have been living outside of His love. Surrender your life to Him, unconditionally. Call Him Lord and make Him Lord of every thought, attitude, and action. You can say, Lord Jesus, forgive me for all my sins, come into my heart, and take full control of my life. I am your child from this day forward. Change my heart and mind to be Christ-like in every way. I confess Jesus is my Lord and Savior forever.
