Is Jesus The Son of God?

Is Jesus The Son of God?

Have You Considered The Biblical Evidence?

The historical and biblical evidence surrounding the life of Jesus provides abundant proof that Jesus is the one and only Son of God. Over a period of 3.5 years, Jesus’ disciples and followers gradually began to understand that Jesus was more than a prophet or king. However, upon His death, it seemed for a moment all hope was lost. Then 3 days later came the final and undeniable evidence as the resurrected Jesus stood among the disciples with nail-scared hands and a hole in his side. His crucified body could not sustain human life but there he stood alive. The eternal author of life could not be held in a grave—He arose and everything changed! He appeared to His disciples and others on at least 12 separate occasions, including a group of over 500 people, many of whom were still alive during Paul’s writing of 1 Corinthians 15:6. Seeing Jesus alive was the absolute proof the apostles and early church needed. Jesus promised his followers they would all have eternal life if they followed Him and now he proved that death was not the end but a door to the eternal life He promised. The question Jesus asked Peter is the same question he is asking you:

“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” 16Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. (Matthew 16:15-17)

After Jesus’ resurrection, Acts 1:3 tells us Jesus appeared to his disciples over 40 days teaching and revealing many things about God’s kingdom before supernaturally ascending into the sky (Acts 1:9-10). Acts 1:2 tells us that Jesus would continue this communication through the Holy Spirit which the 120 people first received on the Day of Pentecost in that upper room (Acts 2). The Holy Spirit is the invisible presence of God that has come into the world to convince us we are sinners in need of repentance and salvation, and to fill and empower us to be true followers of Jesus. With the Spirit of God living on the inside of every born-again believer, we cannot help but be His witnesses and tell of the things He has done for us.

It is the work of the Holy Spirit to lift up Jesus as God’s Son and Savior of the world. He does this supernaturally in our hearts and minds so we might believe and be saved from our sin. It is a supernatural illuminating experience for all who truly repent and turn to God.

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. (Romans 10:10)

The revelation that we are sinners in need of God’s forgiveness is essential to repentance. With unspoken words in our hearts, the Spirit communicates an undeniable conviction that we are guilty of sin and not right with God while lifting up hope and forgiveness that is only received through Christ. Many have experienced the Spirit’s conviction, believed the message, and were born-again. Others, unfortunately, have ignored God and continue living outside of salvation, a dangerous existence.

It is estimated that of the 7.9 billion people living today roughly 2.38 billion believe that Jesus is the only savior. That leaves about 70% of the world’s population that has not confessed Jesus is God’s Son.

Secular history does not deny that Jesus is a real historical person. It does not deny that he lived, was crucified, and died. But the lingering question remains, who is He?

It is clear from all biblical and historical evidence that Jesus is one of two people. Jesus is either the biggest fraud that ever lived or He is the Savior of the World, God’s one and only Son.

Jesus is still asking us the same question He asked the apostle Peter; “Who do you say I am?”

Jesus has made it abundantly clear that He is the only way to Father God, there is no other way!

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

So, who do you say He is?
