On My Way To Hell, I Met Jesus

On My Way To Hell, I Met Jesus

An Unlikely Encounter or Divine Appointment?

The world is a confusing place of opinions, philosophies, ideologies, and influences that flood our minds with a myriad of ideas and choices. Subconsciously, these currents carry us along shaping our lives in ways we never fully envisioned. Our sense of well-being or lack thereof emerges as we delight in the gentle winds of pleasure and attempt to navigate the catastrophic storms of devastation. Life’s views, values, and options seem to evolve continually adding to the confusion we call life.

In a world of 7.9 billion people, we find a multitude of opinions and powers seeking to guide us along to a full and happy life. At some point on your journey, you are certain to encounter the story of Jesus claiming to be the only way, truth, and life that is worth living. He urges all to follow Him. This Jesus tells us that apart from Him we are powerless, empty, and headed for eternal damnation. In John 10:10 Jesus tells us that He came to bring us a higher quality of life than the one you find in the world—an “abundant life.” A life that is superior in every way to the ideologies and philosophies of this world.

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10nkjv)

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6)

In John 10:10 Jesus declares himself as the protagonist of life while identifying the thief (satan and the worldly system) as the antagonist of life. Now no thief announces his intentions to steal, kill, and destroy but operates under the cloak of deception to gain an advantage. Through the invisible influences that flow in our world system, we are blinded from seeing the true giver of life, Jesus. It isn’t until the illuminating presence of  Jesus appears in our lives that we realize we are sailing along on a sea of death and destruction. It is at this moment you realize there is a hell to fear and a heaven to gain. His illuminating presence exposes the invisible powers of darkness. The moment is undeniable! The choice is yours. Turn and follow Jesus or continue on your worldly journey.

One evening, many years ago, I was on my way to hell when I came face to face with the truth. It was the same truth I heard all my life that never really mattered before, but now it seemed to be highly important. The room was filled with people praising God, the pastor was inviting people to turn to Jesus, and the presence of the Holy Spirit was speaking to my heart. For the first time in my life, I understood Jesus was the real-life and I was a sinner chasing the wrong way of life. Deciding to turn from this life and follow the real way, truth, and life was the best decision I ever made.

Jesus came to suffer and die on the cross for all our sins. Now He offers mercy, grace, forgiveness, and a new life to all who turn to Him. This world is full of darkness and without Jesus, you will never find your way. He is the answer to all you are lacking. Let him open your eyes today!

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  (John 8:12)

Isn’t it time for you to turn to Him?

How to Turn to God

Perhaps at this very moment, you have realized that you need the Lord in your life. Maybe you drifted away or need to be been born again? If so, you can stop right now and begin talking to God. Ask Him to forgive you for being a sinner and the life you have been living outside of His love. Surrender your life to Him, unconditionally. Call Him Lord and make Him Lord of every thought, attitude, and action. You can say, Lord Jesus, forgive me for all my sins, come into my heart, and take full control of my life. I am your child from this day forward. Change my heart and mind to be Christ-like in every way. I confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior forever.
